Move. Listen. See. aspires to connect with audiences on a human level. Telling stories through dance, live music, and visual elements. Improvisation allows us to create a unique experience even when revisiting a previous work. In April we were invited to perform at JCPS All Counties Dance Festival, where we creating the third interpretation of Beyond Inbetween. Which premiered in March at @ambodancetheatre ‘s NACHMO performances! ✨

Beyond Inbetween explores what it means to live outside the gender binary. It pulls inspiration from the qualities of purple, like mystery and intuition. These concepts became part of a meditation that @aubvious_ used to choreograph the improv score. 🌈

What a ride!🌀Let’s look back on some sweet moments from “Beyond Inbetween” at the Kentucky NACHMO Dance Festival 🪩
Move. Listen. See. was one of 18 pieces! It was exciting to see our mutlidisciplinary group be part of a larger dance show for the first time!
NACHMO gave us the opportunity to work with a lighting designer, @de.light.ed 💡 @_spookysarah , our stage director, crafted the lighting choices that Lindsay then took and effortlessly captured what Sarah was going for 🤩
With improv it is easy to get swept away. So, the lighting also worked as a visual cue to pace the piece.
@harristhesecond performed with us for the first time and truly understood the assignment. We really loved the more ethereal direction this piece ended up going!
Shout-out to @trevsax for not only bringing incredible energy to the stage with his saxophone but also for his invaluable contribution to the creative direction of this performance!
@aubvious_ graced the stage with their fluid movement and constructed the improv score and prompts that everyone took inspiration from!
This experience truly filled our hearts up with joy and we are so grateful to have been part of the only dance festival in the state of Kentucky 💜

How it all started

Move. Listen. See. was conceptualized over coffee with friends. Aubvious, Trevsax, and Sarah Rho set out to foster collaboration across artistic mediums. As well as bridge the gap between performers and audience members.
